The Greatest Ever?

What a way to begin the new year than with a renewed commitment to blogging and a football game for the ages?

I have to admit that for about 3 minutes I fell asleep during the Fiesta Bowl last night. I awoke for the touchdown and tying two-point conversion by Oklahoma. Then I felt my new Boise State loving heart drop when Oklahoma intercepted the pass for the go-ahead touchdown. I almost screamed when the hook-and-ladder, or hook-and-lateral, if you will, re-tied the game. I missed Peterson's touchdown run in overtime, but I really did scream, albeit quietly, when Boise State scored and won in overtime.

I'm glad I stayed up. I think that made a lot better football story than everything I've heard about Nick Saban and Alabama. I hope the rest of 2007 sports is close to as exciting.

And I still think that blue field is weird, but whatever.

For commenters, if there are any, what is your most exciting game ever? Mine would probably be game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, but we don't talk about it. So instead I'll say game 4 of the 2004 World Series.

My favorite game was Kobe hanging 81 on Toronto last year.

There was also a great one I played in a really long time ago. My (baseball) team was down in the bottom of the 7th with I think two outs. The pitcher dropped a pop fly that would have ended it, and we came back and won. It was probably the greatest comeback ever achieved in any sport at any level in the history of the world.
